
What you say about your health is more important than anything else.
It is totally understandable to not feel great all the time, especially when your hormones feel off, and anxiety is in the driver’s seat of your life.
How many of us speak negatively over our health, and the image of our body? How often are we waking up another day expecting to feel worse than the day before? How many years have negative health symptoms like hypertension, high cholesterol, excess body fat, and borderline elevated fasting blood sugars been scaring the shit out of us to the point that we think about them more than we think our health is moving in a positive direction?
You are not alone if you can relate to any of these important questions.
Many of us go to the doctor because we feel badly just to be told that they don’t feel comfortable treating hormone deficiencies, but they gladly offer up antidepressants or antianxiety pills. It can become easy to feel defeated, but I encourage you to persist in the belief that feeling better is on the horizon.
Is our health care system broken to the point that medical professionals will only intervene once the BMI is too high, or the hemoglobin A1C is in the diabetic range?
Well, what if I told you that all illness begins with OUR inner and OUTER conversations…?
In fact, our thoughts and words are the fertile ground where all seeds are planted and begin to take root. What are your internal thoughts about your health? How many times have you complained openly to others about your chronic fatigue, depression or anxiety…? Those words are powerful, and so are the correlating feelings that are recreated over and over again when these limiting statements are made; it is like you are carrying out the same old story 85 times a day. The plot and leading character stays the same (YOURSELF) feeling (LIKE CRAP). I urge each and every one who is reading this right now to bring awareness to your thoughts throughout the day and evaluate if you are guilty of what I am talking about. Please do not use this self-evaluation as another way to blame yourself for the creations of your mind, but for a WAY OUT of this negative cycle.
Here are a few pointers to consider while dialing in a new Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) regimen:
- Be a patient patient. Significant life changes DO NOT happen overnight. Relaxing will bring symptom relief faster than sitting around researching every passing ache and pain you FEEL along the way….
- TRUST your path. This trust MUST extend to your provider. If you do not trust your provider, then you are working with the wrong person. Not to worry, there are a ton of Doctors and Practitioners who are really great. Make sure you feel like they are generally concerned about you and how you feel. I cannot stress this enough.
- Don’t be a “number watcher.” Numbers on labs and hormone relationship calculators are irrelevant if you feel like crap. Listen to your body, and don’t forget to check in with yourself.
- If you find yourself struggling to feel better, remember: “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and the ageing process cannot be reversed with a magic wand. I don’t care how talented your provider is….LET GO of the STRUGGLE, nothing feels good when we are struggling.
- Reach out for support, but NEVER compare yourself to other patients you meet in the HRT groups. People lie to themselves all the time, surely they might be lying to you too…social media conceals the TRUTH…this is your own “race” to the finish line of your health and wellness goals, and no 2 people are going to feel exactly the same on the same HRT regimen.
